The key priorities of the tourism service are:
1. Marketing – digital and traditional methods, including the Mid Wales My Way website and social media platforms, Mid Wales visitor guide, events and exhibitions to raise awareness of Powys as a key visitor destination in Wales.
2. Destination Management – support for the 4 destination areas in Powys – Brecon Beacons, Cambrian Mountains, Dyfi Biosphere, Mid and North Powys.
3. Powys Events – a dual approach which involves the active promotion of the wide range of iconic events held in Powys, and working with The Welsh Government and other partners to attract major events to use Powys as a base, such as the Tour of Britain 2010-16, The National Eisteddfod 2015-2018 and The Hay Festival 2017
Powys County Council tourism service undertakes a variety of research into tourism trends, visitor satisfaction, bedstock and the impact of tourism on the economy of Powys (STEAM).
